Humulin 30/70 cartridges are for subcutaneous (under the skin) injection only. What the medication is used for: Humulin 30/70 is a combination of an intermediate-acting and a fast-acting insulin used to treat patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus.

 

Uses

HUMULIN 70/30 is injected under the skin (subcutaneously) of your stomach area (abdomen), buttocks, upper legs or upper arms. Wipe the skin with an alcohol swab. Let the injection site dry before you inject your dose.

 

What does Humulin 30/70 stand for?

 
HUMULIN 30/70 is a fixed mixture of 30% HUMULIN R- Regular (insulin injection, human biosynthetic) and 70% HUMULIN N- NPH (insulin isophane, human biosynthetic). It is an intermediate-acting insulin with a more rapid onset of action than NPH insulin alone.
 
 
 

Doses

Available insulin syringes can deliver a maximum of 100 units, and insulin pen devices can deliver only 60–80 units per injection. In addition, the administration of doses >1 mL in volume can be painful and may alter insulin absorption (7).
